UK Rejects Copyright Transparency in AI Bill; Epic Takes Apple Back to Court: Self-Publishing News with Dan Holloway

Legal shenanigans is the theme for today’s set of stories. First up, we have prospective legislation—specifically, proposed UK legislation on AI. How to Market Your Book When It’s Between Genres

If Colleen Hoover’s chart-topping It Ends with Us had been released in 2010, booksellers would have shelved it as a romance and moved on. But ask an industry pro today where that book belongs and you might be in for a monologue on the complexity of trauma narratives, feminist reclamations of the “problem novel,” BookTok’s taste for ugly-cry catharsis, and more. Epic Games Ruling Reshapes App Store Payments: Self-Publishing News with Dan Holloway

The aftermath of the ruling in the Epic Games against Apple case continues to play out. The essence of that ruling was that if a company’s app was available through the App Store, then it would now be possible for direct payments to be made to that company through the app without going through Apple’s in-app payment system.
