Indie Author Fringe Sessions

We have a stellar line up for this Indie Author Fringe event, and here's a summary of just a small sampling of the sessions we have planned:

Frankfurt Book FairIf you're juggling a full time job, but are considering becoming a full time writer, our WHEN IS THE RIGHT TIME FOR AN AUTHOR TO GO FULL TIME? video session with top selling authors Joanna Penn and CJ Lyons will provide you with the essentials you need to have in place before making the leap out of your day job. They've also put together a free checklist to help you go through the process.

Frankfurt Book FairJane Friedman, author of “Publishing 101: A First-Time Author’s Guide” helps authors to understand the mind shift between writing as an art form and publishing as a business in her session THE BUSINESS OF BEING AN AUTHOR. She lays out the territory of how authors must juggle time and money, creativity, and commerce in order to succeed as an indie author.

Frankfurt Book FairWe're also welcoming Grant Faulkner from National Novel Writing Month to share  HOW TO USE NaNoWriMo TO BOOST YOUR FICTION-WRITING BUSINESS. This session will also include ALLi members telling their NaNo stories, and maybe this is the inspiration you need to sign up for NaNoWriMo in November.

Frankfurt Book FairPippa DaCosta, a hybrid author and Susan Kaye Quinn, a rocket scientist turned speculative fiction author help you assess the benefits and negatives of Amazon KDP exclusivity. Their session, SHOULD INDIE AUTHORS GO KDP EXCLUSIVE OR GO WIDE? will help you understand the implications of this path to market.

Frankfurt Book FairYen Ooi and I have created a podcast aimed at beginning authors. We look at how authors need to take accountability for the self-publishing process in YOU'VE WRITTEN IT, NOW OWN IT: UNDERSTANDING YOUR AUTHOR ROLE. We discuss the different steps and decisions authors need to make to get their books to market, and help you determine what to DIY and what to outsource.

Frankfurt Book FairHelen Sedwick and Orna Ross, authors of “How Authors Sell Publishing Rights” will double-team us with A BUSINESS MINDSET MEANS A RIGHTS MINDSET session. Helen helps us to understand the value embedded in our copyright, and how exploiting your rights is key to your success. Orna Ross provides seven different income options, from e-books to subscription, sponsorship and advertising and rights sales.

All in all, we have 24 hours of videos, podcasts and articles packed into the agenda. Please check our Speaker Page to see who else is presenting a session, and what expertise they're sharing.
