You’ve Written it, now Own it: Understanding your Author role
With: Yen Ooi
Jay Artale and Yen Ooi help beginning authors understand the freedoms and responsibilities of self-publishing. What to DIY and what to outsource — and when.
Jay is a project manager specialising in content marketing and social media strategy. She is a social mentor at WoMentoring, and is the communications manager at the Alliance of Independent Authors, as well as being one of the co-organisers of the Indie Author Fringe.
As an author-publisher, Jay has self-published her own Travel Guide series, and is currently writing a 4-part series about “How to Write a Travel Guide” aimed at travel bloggers who want to turn their travel passions and blogs into e-books, that she is publishing under her Birds of a Feather Indie Press. She is also working with Orna Ross, from the Alliance of Independent authors, on a PDF series aimed at newbie authors, to help them find the simplest path without getting overwhelmed.
For the “You’ve written it: Now Own it” session, Jay is giving away an ebook copy of her “Turkey Tales: A Bodrum Travel Memoir in Verse“, a collection of poems about her relocation and integration in a new life in Turkey.
And for the “Indie Author Tools Post” Jay is offering to format your final draft in Vellum to create epub and mobi versions of your book.
