Milestone

Publishing my book, rocking some high-profile podcasts/radio shows, hosting my own podcast, creating comics and short video book spinoffs, and narrating my book.

Why are you proud?

I gave it my all to finish and publish my book, driven by the goal of getting it to my Mom before she passed away. The book detailed her lost family history and an epic tragedy in the family. I delivered the published book to her just two weeks before her death, and she held it next to her heart.

What have you learned?

I hate to be cliche, but playing the long game is key. Don't give up when you feel like throwing in the towel; instead, summon your inner strength and press on. The victory dance at the finish line will be so worth it!

Milestone

My novel I Never Called Him Pa was recognized by the 2023 National Indie Excellence Awards as a finalist in Fiction Cover Design.

Why are you proud?

I'm proud to have worked closely with my cover photographer and cover designer to pick the perfect photo to reflect the theme of my book and add important touches to the design.

What have you learned?

Covers are important. They are an author's welcome mat to entice readers to visit inside. As much time, thought, and detail need to go into the cover as into the text.
