Farewell and Thank You Ann Crispin

I didn't know Ann Crispin personally but her friend and partner at Writer Beware, Victoria Strauss, has been a Writers' Watchdog for ALLi since we started and we are all indebted to their great work on behalf of authors.

Nobody has done more to alert writers to scams, rip-offs, shady goings on and literary fraud than Writer Beware. And always with grace and aplomb.

All of us at ALLi mourn Ann's passing and extend our sympathy and condolences to her family, her husband Michael Capobianco, and her wide circle of friends, online and off, who will dearly miss her.

And, of course, to Victoria.

RIP Ann.

For the Internet Archive, this is the worst of times. Their comment on the closing of the legal chapter against them is short and melancholy. At the heart of it is a simple statement, referring to September’s decision upholding the complaint in Hachette v. Internet Archive: “The Internet Archive has decided not to pursue Supreme Court review.”
