We are gearing up as I write for the autumn/spring (hemisphere-dependent) conference season. Already, many juicy details are emerging about the themes and streams of Frankfurt—more of which as they emerge. But that also means it’s time for the next event of all, and the mustn’t-miss fixture in the indie calendar: ALLi’s own Self-Publishing Advice Conference.

ALLi News Editor Dan Holloway
As always, you will be able to watch for free as the event happens across October 18 and 19. You will also be able to sign up for unlimited access passes to cover this and ALLi’s other events long after the sessions end.
The theme of this year’s event is New Trends in Self-Publishing. Expect everything from the future of search and new BookTok tactics to the latest print innovations and strategies to future-proof your content.
What to Expect at SelfPubCon25
You can also expect exciting offers from speakers and sponsors, together with networking opportunities and live discussions throughout the weekend. And there will be some great sessions from the event’s sponsors, led by Platinum and Gold sponsors Amazon KDP and IngramSpark.
You can sign up here for updates as they happen, including some very cool competitions.
TikTok Back in the News
Also in the news this week is the return of what has so far proven to be one of the year’s hot stories that never quite broke with the force it promised: TikTok. Which is a great segue, as SelfPubCon25 will have sessions covering evolving tactics for using BookTok. For a long while, those seemed as though they might be utterly useless to anyone in the US. This, of course, was because of the proposed ban, the deadline for which was approaching on September 17—the fourth such deadline to come and, it now seems, go.
Because now it seems that a deal might have been reached that will ensure the continued provision of TikTok in the US. According to CNBC, “It’s between two private parties, but the commercial terms have been agreed upon.” Details, I am sure, will follow.
