COVER DESCRIPTION CONTEST
The Indie Recon 2015 Book cover contest had 254 entries. We had so many wonderful book covers submitted that it was a real challenge to narrow it down. The competition was juried by professional graphic designers and established experts in indie publishing.
Awards were given in three categories: Best Cover Art, Best Cover Layout, and Best Book Cover.
For each of these categories, three honorable mentions are highlighted.
Best Cover Art
The best cover art award is given to those whose book covers are graced with wonderful cover art.
For this award, we are not looking at the layout or typography, only the underlying illustration or photograph.
Honorable Mentions in this category include:

Great. But all the links to the images are broken. It might be nice to see them…
I would call the Dead of Night cover a photoshop fail. Unless that girl has had internal organs removed (I haven’t read it, maybe she has!) she should not have that thin waist. Other than that it’s nice 🙂
It may have been better to post the covers as pdf files. The jpgs aren’t viewable.
I got the email about the covers and am looking forward to seeing them. Having a cover contest is a great idea for a writers con. I hope I get to see the covers!
Of course I’m disappointed that I wasn’t one of the winners as I think my cover is gorgeous for Annie’s Story, but many congratulations to the winners. If only I could see their covers. It seems no one else can open them either.
I can’t see any of the covers, either, and I’ve tried both Firefox and Chrome. Too bad. I was looking forward to seeing them. 🙁
Congratualtions to all. Pity we can’t see the covers.
Yes, like Kathryn I’d love to see the covers but the images are broken (I’ve tried on Chrome and IE). I’ll check back again in a few hours.
I can’t see the covers, only a large blue rectangle for tweeting.
Thanks to the judges and to everyone involved for running this contest. At Design for Writers we’re so happy to have won the Best Cover Art category with Jonathan Longmore for “Deus Militis”. And to have an honorable mention in each of the other two categories: “Diary of a Penguin Napper” by Sally Harris in Best Cover Layout; and “The Haiku Murder” by Fran Pickering in the Best Book Cover category.
Congratulations to the other winners and honorable mentions, it’s great to be in such awesome company 🙂 great work everyone!
Thank you for the honourable mention, I’ll be sure to pass it on to John Davison, who I’m certain will be as pleased as I am.
