After a pause for the holidays, a back-to-school feeling abounds here at ALLi. With Frankfurt Book Fair a few weeks away, all hands are to deck completing our new website, gearing up our Opening Up To Indie Authors campaign and our global outreach, which we hope will get you collaborating across borders and territories, to mutual benefit. But elsewhere in the world of ALLi…
A Final Call for The Self-Publishing Service Directory
ALLi is not only made up of authors from all walks of life, we also work with service providers who adhere to our aims of excellence and ethics in self-publishing (as detailed in our code of conduct). The forthcoming ALLi Self-Publishing Service Directory is dedicated to showcasing these services, which we believe help to encourage our aims of excellence and ethics in self-publishing.
In short, if you are an author, it’ll be easier than ever for you to assemble a team behind your book. And if you are a partner member, you’ll be able to tell the world about the services you offer.
Partner members – take note – the deadline for submitting your service is 12th September.
Authors – if there’s anyone you’d like to see in the directory, let us know! Email Nerys ([email protected]) with any enquiries or suggestions.
New Faces to the ALLi Team
We’ve got some new faces behind the scenes in the ALLi team and would like to welcome Danny McKerchar, who’ll be our new legal eagle and Jim Giammatteo, who although familiar to you from his excellent blog posts, is now heading up our Watchdog Desk.
Seth Dillon of PubMatch will be advising on rights, from a US perspective and Ben Galley has moved across to be our Crowdfunding Advisor and in a well-timed display of his prowess, is currently in the midst of a PubSlush campaign, which we’d definitely advise you to take a look at.
Speaking of Pubslush…
ALLi’s Community Page at Pubslush is also opening next Monday in beta. It’s a great time for our members to dip in and learn a bit more about Pubslush: a platform that offers another option for authors and publishers to conduct pre-order campaigns for upcoming books. Conducting a pre-order campaign is a way to not only gain advanced sales and collect early readers, but is a great way to market and drive traffic to a book before it’s published.
A pre-order campaign gives authors and publishers exposure to Pubslush’s vibrant literary audience. You’ll also find important reader data and market analytics for every campaign you create, so you can identify and understand the early readers of your book. Any author or publisher maintains all control of their pre-order campaign through Pubslush’s self-fulfillment option, all at an industry low fee of 4%.
If you are interested in experimenting, do go explore the new ALLi Pubslush Page and send any questions you may have to [email protected].
