In the Reaching More Readers podcast, Dale L. Roberts and Holly Greenland discuss five compelling reasons why authors should maintain an email list. They address the common perception that email marketing is crucial for an author's business despite some authors' reluctance to embrace it. The hesitations often stem from concerns about time and effort, technical challenges, fear of spamming, and a lack of understanding or concern over costs. However, Dale and Holly argue that email marketing does not demand excessive time, expertise, or financial investment. With a plethora of online tutorials and free email marketing services available, the primary barrier for many is simply inexperience—a starting point for everyone.
@SDNeeve, I’m not Joanna, but now I’m curious what a Norfolk accent sounds like. I might tune in specifically to hear it. And then all the Norfolkers would support you, and you could become a “thing.” We hear posh/conventional accents all the time. You’d be more unique!
No disrespect to Joanna, of course. Thanks for all the info. Gotta jump on the audio bandwagon…
Agreed 🙂 unique is what it is all about !
Hi Joanna.
You probably won’t see this now. But I have a question about podcasts. I think the idea is great and all, especially if you have a lovely voice like yours. But unfortunately I don’t. I come from Norfolk, and let’s just say, our dialect isn’t that grand. Don’t get me wrong, I’m proud of where I come from, it’s just, I don’t think people will appreciate my country tone, if you know what I mean.
What would you suggest I do? Should I still take a risk and go for it? Or would I be taking a risk and opening myself up to ridicule?
I’d love to know what you think on the subject.
Hi SD, I replied on twitter – but will add again here. What you think of your voice doesn’t matter. People think all different accents are exotic. I hate my voice, my mannerisms, my annoying tics – but I don’t matter – the information matters. People in the USA especially appreciate different accents – check out Game of Thrones for some truly awesome accents – hugely popular in the US! Point being … get over you and get out there 🙂
Agreed! I was thinking of the weeping angels, too!
Anyone trying to wrap their heads around the marketing, those slides really help. It’s not always a one-to-one, direct, easy-to-track thing. Be authentic, be visible, be cool. Thanks a million, Joanna.
Glad you enjoyed it Anthony 🙂
Joanna, I missed this but I’m sure you rocked it just like you rocked our interview on IndieAuthor TV! I will be posting this on my site because you know what you’re talking about..that is for sure!!!
Cheers,
Marla
PS – for everyone – my twitter handle is @thecreativepenn – it’s wrong in the bio 🙂
I’m a Dr Who fan as well – my cover for Desecration has a graveyard angel on too 🙂
You’re English, you love graveyards and the angels within and all I can think is, “Don’t blink. Don’t even blink!”
Lols that’s exactly where my mind went too! Whovians FTW!
