Newsletters have for many years now been the bread and butter of an author's way of connecting with their readers. But the choice of platform for our newsletters has grown greatly over that time, and I regularly find myself reporting the latest change made by one of those companies offering us platforms in a bid to win our loyalty.

ALLi News Editor Dan Holloway
Having recently made what I hope is the last move for some time and switched to Beehiiv, I was pleased to see them announcing that they are expanding their own offering to bring it more in line with leading subscription services in the field.
The Everything-Platform Returns
Beehiiv will now be offering the opportunity for users to make and distribute podcasts through their platform and track them with analytics. Beehiiv has stated the intention behind the move is to make it easier for creatives to use all the channels they wish to use to connect with their audience within the same platform.
I can see why they feel this both as a commentator on the development of platforms and as an exasperated creator who is endlessly frustrated at having to learn yet another system just to keep treading water. But it does feel like it marks an interesting transition we are seeing right now.
A few years ago we saw platforms trying to do everything. Then we started to see a move toward specialisms done well. And now we seem to be seeing things swing back again toward the everything platform.
Tolino Media Opens Audiobook Distribution
Another positive move to widen the options available to indies comes as German company Tolino Media announced that it would be opening its audiobook doors to indie authors. Indies can upload audiobook files to Tolino who will then distribute it across a series of major audiobook retailers including Apple and Spotify.
Authors receive 70 percent of the net revenue. Thanks as always to Mark Williams for the nod on this.
