In 2026, the Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi) returns to The London Book Fair for a week of insightful panel sessions, author talks, get-togethers, our popular ALLi member drinks party (sponsored by Amazon KDP), and for the first time, our full-day in-person event solely for indie authors: Indie Author Lab.
You'll find members of the ALLi team at LBF stand 5G129 throughout London Book Fair, with most of our UK team at Kensington Town Hall on Wednesday 11th for our Indie Author Lab event. Find full details of all ALLi panels, talks, and the drinks party below.
ALLi Self-Publishing Panels & Talks

Writers’ Summit & Author HQ
Monday, 9th March – Writers’ Summit (Novotel West London)
10:00 AM – 10:10 AM
Indie Publishing versus Traditional Publishing
Speakers: Orna Ross (ALLi Director)
Kobo recently said that 1 in 4 of their books sales is from self-published authors. Orna Ross, author and writer and ALLI, will discuss what the statistics and numbers tell us about self-publishing versus traditional: profit, audience, the reality of the self publishing market in numbers.
10:10 AM – 10:55 AM
The Journey of a Book from Writing to Publication
Speakers: Orna Ross (ALLi Director), Ruth Tross (Bookouture), Tory Lyne-Pirkis (Book PR Consultant)
This session explores the journey of a book from submission to publication, everything that authors need to know. What are the key stages of the publishing process, including agents, acquisition, editing, design, and marketing, and where are the key pressure points. Attendees will gain a clear understanding of how all these parts work together to bring a book to market.
12:15 PM – 1:00 PM
The Rise of Indie – Roundtable
Speakers: Melissa Addey (ALLi Campaigns & Bookstore Lead)
Each table will have an active discussion on a different topic to enable personalisation and encourage questions, interaction and networking. Each table will have a host or two who are experts in that area of publishing.
Tuesday, 10th March – Author HQ
4:00 PM – 4:45 PM
The Rise and Rise of the Authorpreneur
Speakers: Orna Ross (ALLi Director), Debbie Young, Thad McIlroy (Principal, The Future of Publishing)
Self-publishing and hybrid publishing continue to accelerate, opening new creative and commercial pathways for writers who choose to build their own publishing enterprises. In this Alliance of Independent Authors panel, chaired by director Orna Ross, three leading voices explore what it means to be an “authorpreneur” today — combining writing craft, publishing business, and growth strategies. From personal experience to sector-wide insights and fresh data from ALLi’s new Indie Author Income Survey, this session reveals how authors are making a living (and in some cases a killing) from their books, by taking charge of their publishing futures.

ALLi Drinks Party with Amazon KDP
Wednesday, 11th March | 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM
The Windsor Castle, 114 Campden Hill Rd, London W8 7AR
We're very excited to be hosting the ALLi drinks party this year at a lovely new venue. The Windsor Castle Pub in Kensington was built in the 1820s – 1830s and saw many patrons pass through the doors including Dame Agatha Christie, who lived nearby, and English apologist writer, GK Chesterton.
Rumour also has it that the bones of philosopher and author Thomas Paine are buried in the cellar! So, plenty of literary inspiration to be discovered – along with great company, drinks and finger food at our annual member get-together, kindly sponsored by Amazon KDP.
This is an excellent opportunity to connect with Amazon representatives, fellow ALLi members, and indie authors from around the world.
All ALLi members, Indie Author Lab attendees, and friends of ALLi are welcome!
Can’t Attend in Person?
For members who can’t be there, we’ll be bringing selected replays as well as our Indie Author Lab Online event, taking place in May 2026.
