News Summary: The Selfies Book Awards Go Global for 2026

Huge news to start the week. I have been reporting on the Selfies for a decade, and it is always one of my favorite tasks to highlight indie author success. The Selfies have expanded a little in that time and now have three categories: general fiction; children's (and young adult) fiction; and memoir.

But this year, the Selfies have announced the biggest expansion of all. Instead of being a UK prize, they are now open to authors from all over the world. ALLi is delighted to see this and has commented:

“The Selfies has always been the most prestigious UK award for indie authors, and we are delighted to see it going global and now open to authors everywhere.”

How to Enter

The key timeline is that submissions are now open and close on March 31. You can find full details of how to submit here, for books self-published between January 1 and December 31, 2025. The shortlist will be announced on May 19, and the winner on July 1.

The prize for the Selfies, which continue to be supported by BookBrunch, is £750 for the winner in each category and also, ALLi is delighted to announce, includes a year's membership for ALLi's author services.

Good luck everyone, and as ever I can't wait to report on the winner!
