Sue Rovens is an indie suspense writer who has written and published four novels and two anthologies of short stories. Her fifth novel, Sanctum, will be out sometime in 2023. You can find out more about her books on her website.
Milestone
This year, Sanctum, my fifth suspense novel, will come out.
Why are you proud?
I never imagined that I would be able to write five books, let alone sell them to people I didn't know. For the most part, people seem to enjoy them as well.
What have you learned?
To be patient and not to compromise. Write what you want, not what you think might sell, and don't rush the process. Editing takes time.

Kathryn Mathis has an MBA and has worked in financial services most of her life, although recently, Kathryn completed a life long goal of writing a novel. You can find out more about Kathryn on LinkedIn.
Milestone
I wrote, edited, and published my first novel.
Why are you proud?
After working in financial services for so long, I developed the analytical side of my brain. Although I wrote daily on the subject of business, I worried that the creative side of my brain had been overtaken. I worried that I could do one or the other, but not both. After successfully completing my novel, I was reminded of the desire and resilience that I have inside. I realized that I can do both, and I see more novels in my future.
What have you learned?
I have learned many lessons related to self-publishing in the current marketplace and the resources available for independent authors. But the most important lesson I learned was something I already knew logically, but did not embody. It is that you can teach an old dog new tricks, and life doesn't end at 50.

Tricia Gardella is a hybrid picture book author.
Milestone
I've established Write em Cowgirl Publishing and published seven picture books since November 2022 with seven more ready for launch in the coming months. Love finding the right illustrators.
Why are you proud?
Because with the help of ALLi, and lots of reading, I'm learning the indie system and writing again after a 20 year sabbatical. Love the control with indie.
What have you learned?
That where there's a will, there's a way. So long as your will is to put in the effort. My aim is to get to your next ranking by next year (or the next, or the next….)
Everyone in life has memorable milestones that cannot be forgotten until they close their eyes.
