PublishDrive is announcing today the launch of a presence in the US, after securing £1.2MM funding from Credo Ventures, a venture capital firm based in the Czech Republic and Silicon Valley. With headquarters in Budapest, Hungary, PublishDrive is led by Forbes30Under30 Kinga Jentetics and offers authors and indie publishers a reliable, data-driven global publishing platform with excellent customer service.

PublishDrive sells ebooks on a royalty-share basis to more than 400 stores and 240K digital libraries worldwide, including major retailers such as Amazon, Apple, Google, Kobo, and Barnes and Noble, as well as local stores, schools, universities and public libraries.

CEO Kinga Jentetics founded the company as she was struggling to publish her Masters thesis. The lack of distribution opportunities promoted her to build an easy-to-use, data-driven, global publishing platform for indie authors and small publishers. With the help of her co-founders, Robert Czismar and Adam Rendes, Kinga launched PublishDrive to bring authors the widest network of readers via an intuitive user experience which gives them global reach and full transparency on the sales of their titles.

Earlier Ventures in US

The launch of a US company will not be PublishDrive's first foray across the Atlantic. The three co-founders were selected to participate in Google's Launchpad program in Silicon Valley. Additionally, Kinga was selected as YTILI Fellow by the US Government (German Marshall Fund) to build bridges between the US and Europe.

As the indie ebook publishing industry continues to grow with an estimated 485 million titles sold last year, PublishDrive saw a 300% increase in sales in 2016. The outstanding team has big plans to continue driving innovation in the book industry, using AI, natural language processing, and machine learning to help authors sell more books and help writers become more successful authorpreneurs.

  1. As you are a distributor of books, why cannot I submit my books with the original formatting rather than undergoing changes that you are considering?

  2. My earlier draft query was sent in by mistake; touched the wrong button while still trying to frame my question. Please delete.

  3. Hello,
I’m a novice struggling with the meaning of ‘aggregators’ and ‘sales channels’ in this new world of ebooks.

‘PublishDrive sells ebooks on a royalty-share basis to more….’

I understand that if I format my own ebook for Kindle, I can turn off that ‘sales channel’ at Publish Drive. Same for Apple iBooks. All sales there are just between me and Amazon/Apple etc.

Barnes and Noble’s ‘Nook’ ruins some of the fonts in my conversion into their ePUB. If I offer the ebook through you, would you be selling your version of my ebook on Nook in a formatting I can agree with? Or would I have to pay extra to ensure the ebook passes ‘validation’? Without the right fonts, I will not sell on Nook — and would like to be assured that the ebook retains the fonts on all the other bookshelves as well.

Thank you for any helpful clarification.

  4. Do you mind if I quote a couple of your articles as long as I provide credit and sources
back to your website? My website is in the exact same niche as yours
and my visitors would really benefit from some of
the information you provide here. Please let me know if this okay with you.
    Thanks a lot!

    1. Hi Ken,

I’m Zsofia from PublishDrive. We are not publishers but a distributor, similar to Pronoun. We usually step in when somebody has their books ready for distribution (however, we have some qualified freelance professionals in hand should someone need editing or conversion). We also have guides and software recommendation ready if somebody prefers to do the conversion themselves.

We offer hassle-free distribution to many-many stores with smart pricing and clear invoicing.

Please do not hesitate to message us should you have any questions regarding PublishDrive and our services.

  5. When Pronoun went away, I heard great things about PublishDrive and checked it out as a new option for several of my books. I found the interface easy to use, and the “help” chat a wonderful resource to guide and correct my user-errors. I would highly recommend PublishDrive as a top option for hybrid authors wishing to expand book audience around the world.
