Every Wednesday ALLi will tell the world about our members' latest book launches, news, awards, freebies, workshops and updates on the writing life and take a look at the projects and businesses of our partner members.
My debut historical mystery, Murder by Misrule, has been selected as one of Kirkus Reviews' Best Indie Books of 2014.
The official announcement will be made on Monday, Dec 15, so I'd love to get an announcement into the Wed, Dec 17 Showcase.
Francis Bacon is charged with investigating the murder of a barrister at Gray's Inn. He recruits his unwanted student Thomas Clarady to do the tiresome legwork, chasing witnesses from Whitehall to the London streets. Everyone has something up his pinked and padded sleeve. Even the brilliant Bacon is at a loss — and in danger — until he sees through the disguises of the season of Misrule.
It's been quite the interesting week. First, I was notified that my novel, The Commons: Book 1: The Journeyman, received a B.R.A.G. Medallion.
Then my silly holiday side project, The Little Drummer Boy Challenge, was featured on Time's website, along with some quotes from me Christmas came a little early, it seems.
Beth is a woman whose life is falling apart; there are problems with her marriage, her career is in the doldrums and her health is not good. She decides she has to get away from it all and embarks on a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain.
On her journey she meets other pilgrims, each with a tale to tell. Available in print and as an ebook.
Promote your books in an eye-popping new way with Virtual Reality website Inkflash.com
After a year in development, Virtual Reality (VR) books website Inkflash has just opened for business. Inkflash is a social network for book lovers. It’s like the love child of Goodreads and WordPress, with an engaging 3D interface; and it all runs in a web browser, without requiring additional software.
The idea is that site visitors get a sense of exploration and discovery. Each virtual room is themed and has its own sense of character; so users can spend time in one room, read some book blurbs and reviews, and hopefully buy some books… then continue exploring on to the next room, to discover new books and authors.
The exploration aspect will allow you as an author to co-promote your books with others; e.g. via a shared doorway.
If you have a book trailer, this can be shown on a video wall in your room. The effect is like seeing your book trailer on a big cinema screen! Live Twitter and blog/RSS feeds can also be displayed in-room; and we make it easy for visitors to tweet a photo of your room including any book covers, via the Share button. To top it all, it's possible to display your virtual room on your own blog or website (like embedding a YouTube video), via a few lines of cut & pasted HTML.
We’re offering an extremely good, strictly limited-time discount for ALLi members – please see the Discounts & Deals page on the ALLi member’s website. This offer is for December only, so why not award yourself and your books a brand-new 3D showroom in time for Christmas?
Please email [email protected] for more info.
If you are a member of The Alliance of Independent Authors and you would like to showcase your work on our ALLi Showcase, please send it to [email protected] to reach me no later than the Friday proceeding the Wednesday you would like it published.
