Sandal Press continues with its month-long promotion in August, to celebrate our third birthday and the opening of our stores at Limited Run and Gumroad.

Balance Of Terror: Stellar physicist Moon Thadin and amnesiac savant Srin Flerovs are on the run to possible sanctuary with a rebel group, but the rebels want exactly what the Republic wants–a star-busting weapon. Can Moon balance Srin's life against the lives of billions? (SF romance)

Quinten's Story: It has been seven long years for Quinten Tamlan, directionless and mired in self-pity. Until he takes on a new crewmember who demands that he begin living again. (Space opera)

Normally US$5.99 each, both novels will be free at our new stores with the use of checkout code “4ksaugustinreaders”. Each novel comes DRM-free and in a bundle of four formats (Epub, PDF, PRC and Mobi).

My latest book, It's All In My Head, is out on Kindle, Kobo, and Smashwords. (Print edition coming shortly too.)

I'm launching this book with a 10 ebook giveaway across those platforms; most are live and the Kindle freebies should kick in soon too.

Avery Waldorf wakes up from a concussion to find a voice inside her head—an adventurous male voice belonging to Marcus, who doesn’t know where he came from, but has an opinion on everything about her life. She just wants to work on her screenplay, go to her writing classes and flirt with the guy of her dreams, Nash, who is finally noticing her.

Marcus wants to get up at dawn, run, snowboard, and basically take over her life, and even her body at times. He thinks she’s freaking hot and does not like Nash touching her. Marcus may be smart, talented at snowboarding, drawing and playing the guitar, but he’s not real! When she needs help, she has to call Nash.

She can’t tell anyone about Marcus without sounding like she’s crazy. Meanwhile Marcus doesn’t know where he’ll go if he leaves her mind. Maybe she is losing it…

There's a new interview with Linda Gillard on the Layered Pages blog.

Linda talks about Cauldstane, which has been awarded an IndieBRAG Medallion by the Book Readers' Appreciation Group.

This is the second of Linda's novels to be honoured in this way. Untying The Knot was the first. Coincidentally both books feature Scottish castles.

I’m offering The Wedding Shroud: A Tale of Ancient Rome for 99c from the 13-17th August.

In 406 BC, to seal a tenuous truce, the young Roman Caecilia is wedded to Vel Mastarna, an Etruscan nobleman from the city of Veii.

The fledgling Republic lies only twelve miles across the Tiber from its neighbor, but the cities are from opposing worlds so different are their customs and beliefs. Leaving behind a righteous Rome, Caecilia is determined to remain true to Roman virtues while living among the sinful Etruscans. Instead she finds herself tempted by a hedonistic culture which offers pleasure and independence to women as well as an ancient religion that gives her a chance to delay her destiny.

Yet Mastarna and his people also hold dark secrets and, as war looms, Caecilia discovers that Fate is not so easy to control and that she must finally choose where her allegiance lies.

I have just published my latest children's ebook called The Vanity Quest on Smashwords  (99c) and on Amazon. It is the second in my mermaid trilogy

If there's one thing that Krysta the mermaid loves more than jewellery it's her hair. So when she's given a quest on her sixteenth birthday to find her soul mate within a week or lose her hair, she's determined to find him.

As each day goes and Krysta meets unsuitable mermen, she loses her hair. But she also discovers that their faults are hers, too. When she meets her love, Logan, she proves she can be better than just caring about her external beauty. Her fate is sealed; she's found her soul mate and a career.

The Historical Novel Society picks Successio!

The Historical Novel Society indie review team has reviewed Successio and given it a wonderful write-up. But the cream on the cake is that it has been awarded the accolade of “Editor’s choice”!

Not only is there that glory, but Successio will automatically be longlisted for the HNS Indie Award 2015, the results of which will be announced at the HNS Conference 2015 in Denver USA.

The HNS is an open and welcoming organisation with strong presence in many countries, especially the US and Australia. It embraces some of the most ‘famous names’ in writing e.g. Diana Gabaldon, Bernard Cornwell, Elizabeth Chadwick, Simon Scarrow, among others, but also enthusiasts and readers of historical fiction.

79HNSlogo_full-300x74Open to readers, big name, small press, mainstream and indie authors, here it is in its own words:

‘We are a literary society devoted to promoting the enjoyment of historical fiction. We are based in the USA and the UK but we welcome members (who can be readers or writers) from all round the world. Through our print magazines, conferences, website, social media and through the dynamism of our membership we help bring the excitement of these novels to the widest audience.’
