Now that conference and festival season is winding down for us at ALLi, we’re turning our attention to a major website development – and we want you to be a part of it.
A New Website for the Future
We want to create a wonderful website to update our existing site, that takes on board the lessons we’ve learned over the past two years — and yes, your feedback.
Whether you’re an author, partner or associate member, or one of our professional members, we want to hear from you about what you want from your association’s website. If we can, we’ll make it happen.
Some Key Questions for You To Answer
We're looking for any feedback you have, but as a starting point, we're excited to know your answers to the following questions:
* What do you most like about what’s there now?
* What do you most dislike?
* What would you like to see more of?
* Any wild and wonderful creative ideas for us?
If you're already itching to share your views, then the next step is to simply…

We look forward to unveiling a cleaner, more comprehensive and user-friendly site in September, that will take us into the future as we all grow and expand the new and exciting world of indie authorship.
[…] in the middle of big changes and projects this August, some of which have been mentioned before. Alongside our website, another major project we are working on is the ALLi Self-Publishing […]
One of the great things I like about the present website is the clarity of its appearance and the ease of posting opinions. Another plus is the friendly and inclusive nature of the monitors, who constantly invite contributions from members. So, whatever changes are to be made, let’s not lose these fine qualities.
Now it’s very brave to ask members to critique present services, and I have few complaints. News gets through quickly, plenty of opportunities are offered to members to visit new platforms, give feedback on problems and offer opinions, congratulatory or critical. I have to struggle to pinpoint any negative items, but – there’s always a ‘but’ isn’t there? – often I receive duplicate posts, which can be niggling when you’re handling 20+ new emails a day. Another – and I’m really digging deep here to find negative feedback – trivial items that might be more at home on Facebook (holiday news and snaps of one’s pets) often clog up the works (I won’t cite particulars for reasons of protocol).
So what more would I like to see? Not too much. 90% of the Bulletin is well-written and informative. Perhaps a running weekly total of current membership; perhaps a stronger introduction and opportunity to welcome new members; and this is a personal plea – more space given to literary fiction, current reading by members, discussion of genre issues and the purpose of writing. I know all these topics are available elsewhere (on Good Reads and other booklovers sites, but sometimes a broader perspective would be a refreshing change from best-seller news and self-advertising (nothing wrong with these in moderation of course).
Superbly flagged Philippa and all fixed. Thanks for pointing out!
Tried to click through to the site from ‘our existing site’ above…no website found. One to fix! OR maybe this is the holiday season early and you are all on Ithaca already?
