From 29-30 September, in Cincinatti, Ohio, the Writers Digest IndieLAB conference will be turning the spotlight exclusively on the self-publishing sector and indie authors.
When so many publishing trade fairs sideline the self-publishing sector, it's truly heartening to see Writers Digest and other publishing event organizers starting to address the indie sector. This is something ALLi has long called for in our #PublishingOpenUp campaign.
IndieLAB, which is now an ALLi Partner Member, is led by the new Publisher of Writers Digest, Guy LeCharles Gonzalez. Writers Digest is generously offering a $50 discount to ALLi members attending the conference (quote code WDALLi18 as you book).
It is also offering a scholarship for the winner of a competition on the theme of Self-publishing 3.0. Says Guy,
“Send us your best examples of #selfpub3.0 and the winner will get an ALLi scholarship to attend IndieLab, to include registration courtesy of Writers Digest and hotel accommodation for one courtesy of ALLi.”

US indie author Michael La Ronn will represent ALLi as a guest speaker at IndieLab
Michael La Ronn to Speak for ALLi
ALLi author member Michael La Ronn, part of the ALLi podcast team, will be present as a guest speaker and to represent ALLi.
“For the last two years I’ve spearheaded Alli’s message in helping authors become the creative directors of their careers, ” says Michael. “I’m thrilled to be representing Alli at the indieLAB conference in September because the event aims to foster that same spirit: to help authors explore the various publishing paths in today’s market, make informed decisions, and learn how to make money from their work.
“I am also excited to meet forward-thinking publishing industry professionals and learn from them, as well as promote ALLi’s message of prudent publishing and advocacy for independent authors across all areas of our industry.”
